This article displays the fields you need to complete when you have purchased an addition to an existing asset during the year.
Recording an addition to an existing asset
If an addition is purchased for an existing asset during the year. The addition's cost and date of purchase are entered under Additions. This amount also needs to be included in the Total Cost and the Historical Cost fields as well.
Example: An asset that originally cost $100,000 and we have purchased an addition for $35,000 this year.
